    This month, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on Tracy Komasa, one of our incredible MP athletes!  Tracy brings dedication, positivity, and contagious energy to every workout. Whether she’s tackling a tough WOD or cheering on her fellow athletes, she truly embodies what it means to be part of the MP Fitness family. We’re so proud to recognize her this month. Congratulations, Tracy! 

    We asked Tracy a few questions so you can get to know her a little better.

    1. When did you begin your CrossFit journey, and what inspired you to give it a try?

    I started at the beginning of this year, although I also did CrossFit about 10-12 years ago. It’s my favorite form of working out. But I had to stop due to my time at the police academy. Then I did not get back into it as I let my fitness fall to the wayside a wee bit and let life get in the way. Then I moved into the neighborhood next to MP Fitness and thought, now is the time to get back at it! So here I am, trying to get back at it. I fail a lot, but I am trying to improve!

    2. What do you love most about training at MP Fitness, and why?

    I love group training and prefer to be told what to do. I get bored on my own; I’m not nearly as inventive with workouts, and it’s not nearly as much fun when I work out alone. I love the CrossFit style, and it just seems to work the best for me. 

    3. As a police officer with the Tulsa Police Department (thank you for your service!), how has your training at MP helped you in your work?

    As a police officer, I need to have some stamina and physical ability, if only to run back to my car to follow a suspect in the comfort of my vehicle, haha. And though I can do my job “as is”, I still want to improve and become even better, which means more CrossFit! Fun for everyone!

    4. You’re also a mom to an adorable little girl —what message or advice would you share to help positively influence today’s youth?

    Working out is fun, and it should be fun. Find something enjoyable to keep you active, and you’ll stick with it much more easily than something you dread. And don’t stop! It’s much harder to start back up than it is to keep going. It seems simple, but it’s true. 

    5. What’s your favorite WOD, and which one do you secretly (or not so secretly!) dread?

    I loved the obstacle course style, where we had to throw the sandbag over the box wall and then climb over. Then do pullups and lunges. I just found that so fun. And those lunges got me soooo good, I felt them for days.
